About the Annual Gala

For 24 years, the Autry’s Annual Gala has proven to be one of Los Angeles’s most exciting social events and is the largest fundraiser for the Autry. The black-tie or fancy Western attire evening includes the presentation of the Spirit of the West™ Award, a cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, an elegant dinner, entertainment by top performers, and an after-party. Past honorees include Merle Haggard, Clint Eastwood, Johnny Cash, Melissa Gilbert, Kevin Costner, N. Scott Momaday, James Arness, Sergio Leone, and other distinguished individuals and foundations.

Celebrity sightings have abounded over the years, with attendance by the likes of Burt Reynolds, Dick Clark, Kirk Douglas, Pat Sajak, Angie Everhart, Diane Keaton, Anne Jeffreys, Antonio Sabato Jr., and Gene Autry’s first on-screen kiss, Ann Rutherford. Top-notch performers who have graced the Gala stage include Willie Nelson, Glen Campbell, Rosemary Clooney, Randy Travis, Alan Jackson, Joe Pesci, Vince Gill, and the Texas Tenors.

Gala proceeds support important education and outreach programs that serve tens of thousands of children, their families, teachers, and scholars each year, as well as the Autry’s art and artifact acquisition fund.
